The Prodigal Father — Maple Relief

The Prodigal Father is a deep-relief wall carving in maple by Georges Boujakly, hand-tooled with chisels and gouges — never machines. It captures the father of the parable at the moment of watching, the verse carved into the oval border around his portrait: "But while he was still far off, his father saw him" (Luke 15:20). Scenes from the son's journey are worked into the corners, and the panel's live, hand-shaped edge frames it all.
